Description

The Kobong Project will consist of a 1200 mW pump storage dam and power generation facility constructed along the upper Kobong River, a tributary of the Maliba-mats"’o River which flows into the Katse Dam reservoir. The majority of the power generated at Kobong will be exported to South Africa, while 20 megawatts will be used locally in Lesotho.

Upgrading of 28 km of single carriageway road between Kobero and Muyinga in Burundi.
Description

<p>The road is currently paved with bitumen and needs upgrading to asphalt concrete as well as carriageway expansion from 6 meter to 7 meters. The Kobero-Muyinga is on the RN6. This road forms part of the shortest route to a trade port (Dar es Salaam), and carries 60% of international traffic with Burundi.</p>

Kinshasa (DRC) will be linked to the eastern countries (Rwanda and Burundi) through the national backbone Kinshsa - Kasumbalesa (Lubumbashi) by estashing a joinction from Kamina to Burundi through Uvira in DRC and to Rwanda through Goma in DRC.

<p>Construction of DRC section of the fibre optic link between Kinshasa (DRC) and Kigali/Bujumbura (Rwanda/Burundi).</p>

<p>EDIT : This project involves the roll out of a fiber optic backbone linked to regional network to improve quality and<br />
reduce costs of communications services. The project links the DRC to Rwanda and Burundi and to the<br />
East African countries networks and will offer redundancy loops for these networks with DRC and the<br />
countries in the region.</p>
