Description

Project to improve hydraulic capacity of the Chari River and transfer water by gravity from Bria Dam in Central African Republic to support Lake Chad water levels (target: raise levels by 0.4-1 metre). Managed by the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) under Executive Secretary Ambassador Mamman Nuhu (confirmed active May 2025). Important caveat: Bria is located in Haute-Kotto prefecture of the Central African Republic, an area affected by ongoing armed conflict, severely constraining field access and pre-feasibility studies.
